Dr. Michael Caligiuri, Director of the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center and Chief Executive Officer of the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute at Ohio State, has been appointed to the Board of Scientific Advisors for the National Cancer Institute. The board consists of 35 cancer experts who are invited to serve overlapping terms of up to five years.
Dr. Richard Kloos, Associate Professor, Endocrinology and Metabolism and Nuclear Medicine, Ohio State University, is the new secretary/chief operating officer of the American Thyroid Association, the leading professional society of physicians and researchers who specialize in diseases of the thyroid gland. He will serve a four-year term from 2007-2001. Kloos is a researcher in the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center and a staff physician at the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute at Ohio State.
Dr. Orlando Simonetti, Associate Professor, Internal Medicine and Radiology, Ohio State University, has recently been selected to serve on its Board of Trustees of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance. Simonetti, who has been an invited speaker at several SCMR Conferences and served on SCMR Committees, will be a member of the Board of Trustees for 2008 through 2011.
Dr. Thomas Best, co-medical director for The Ohio State University Sports Medicine Center recently lectured in London, England at the “Sport Muscle Injury Think Tank,” an international gathering of renowned sports medicine practitioners. Best and other invitees explored the frontiers of clinical knowledge and research relating to the current and future management of muscle injuries in elite performance athletes. The two-day event included many of the world’s foremost leaders in sports injury science and research. Many of the delegates will be in Oslo, Norway in June 2008 where Dr. Best will give one of the keynote addresses at the 2nd World Congress of Injury Prevention In Sports.
