Complete Diagnostic Services

JamesCare in Dublin features the latest technology for breast cancer detection. The range of diagnostic services includes:

Digital and standard mammography (low-dose X-ray of the breast), accredited by the American College of Radiology and certified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration

Ultrasound imaging (a test that uses high-frequency sound waves to determine if a lump is solid or fluid-filled)

Biopsy (including a range of techniques that potentially allow for the immediate examination of tissue by a pathologist)

Patients are assured of receiving the best care because all of our staff, resources and equipment are strictly dedicated to breast health. Both female and male patients may receive a diagnosis within one day and proceed with confidence into whatever health management or treatment alternatives they and their physician have chosen.

Immediate Answers

The professionals at JamesCare respect our patients’ time, their need to know and their desire to participate in decision-making. It is our intention to be both efficient and sensitive in informing our patients.

A board-certified radiologist reads the results of mammograms and if a concern is identified, the patient has the option of consulting with a surgical oncologist that day (except for patients who have late-afternoon appointments or who have insurance that does not allow for same-day biopsy). The surgical oncologist communicates with the referring physician so that options for a course of action may be considered and presented to the patient.

If a biopsy is needed, the doctor can perform it the same day (except for patients who have late-afternoon appointments or who have insurance that does not allow for same-day biopsy). A pathologist is available to review slides and confer with the surgical oncologist. In a matter of hours, a patient may have the results of all diagnostic procedures. Surrounded by a team of caregivers that includes physicians, nurses and support staff, the patient has the knowledge necessary to make an informed decision on treatment options.
